I enjoyed Australia so much last year I decided to revisit with Alice and Justin and spend some time with them and their mate Trev. Here's what we got up to...
Road trip from Perth
Our first stop was Perth
A beach we stopped at
Shell beach - there's no sand here, it's all made of tiny, tiny shells
Lookout to nothing
Kalbarri
A tree I saw along the way
The Pinnacles - strange rocks that poke up through the sand in the desert. Good places for penguins to hide!
Journey to the centre of Australia
I think I am the first penguin ever to visit the centre of Australia. It was a bit hot, but I did enjoy it. I visited Kata Tjuta and Uluru then we journeyed to Alice Springs via Kings Canyon, then caught a plane to Melbourne.
Melbourne
In Melbourne we all met up with Trev who was nice enough to take us on a road trip in his trusty car. We walked among the tree tops, gazed at waterfalls, went to say hello to the twelve apostles, admired the balconies, went on a walk with no view that went on for HOURS, met some wildlife, found out about Ned Kelly in Glenrowan - a town obsessed with the famous bush ranger, rode Puffing Billy, and probably did many more things a tired penguin can't remember. I do remember that I loved it all though - thanks Trev!
Sydney
Sydney was a good opportunity to re-acquaint myself with some sites I visited in 2005 and also to meet a few penguin friends on a trip up to the Blue Mountains
Hamilton Island
I didn't take many photos on Hamilton Island - too busy relaxing
Cairns and Port Douglas
I did something pretty exciting here - I went on a balloon flight. Brilliant! I also went up to Kuranda (a rain forest village) on the train and then came back down in a cable car. There are some stops where you can get out and stretch your flippers on the way.
